Summer Reading Club
Every summer the Rimbey Community Library takes part in the TD Summer Reading Club. Each week comes with it’s own theme, crafts and activities. Our program begins on July 2nd, we can’t wait to see you there!
Globetrotters
This year we are heading off to travel the globe to visit different countries and explore new cultures! The Summer Reading Club is FREE and open to any children going into Kindergarten through Grade 6 in the fall. Kids come once a week from July to August for two hours.
Weekly Themes
July:
Week 1 (July 2-3) The Outback
Week 2 (July 8-10) Colours of India
Week 3 (July 15-17) African Safari
Week 4 (July 22-24) European Treasures
August:
Week 5 (July 29-31) Nordic Tales
Week 6 (August 5-7) Caribbean Quest
Week 7 (August 12-14) Amazon Explorers
Week 8 (August 19-21) Mediterranean Marvels
Your child will come to one scheduled time a week for two hours. We do different crafts, games and activities each week that correspond to that weeks theme.
We have four times available:
Tuesday 2-4 PM
Wednesday 10-12 PM or 2-4 PM
Thursday 2-4 PM
We get all participants to take part in a reading challenge that helps promote their reading during the summer. We will be sending home a reading tracker booklet with each child for the summer.
How it works
Win Prizes!
Win Prizes!
Track your reading over the summer by colouring in a stamp for every ten minutes you read. Depending on how many stamps coloured in per week, participants can earn prizes. Kids can choose to spend their stamps or save them to be able to pick from a higher level prize bin.
We are also having a competition between the reading groups, so whichever group reads the most wins a freezie party!
Meet the team!
