Summer Reading Club

Every summer the Rimbey Community Library takes part in the TD Summer Reading Club. Each week comes with it’s own theme, crafts and activities. Our program begins on July 7th, we can’t wait to see you there!

Make a Splash!

This year we’re diving into unchartered waters to uncover the incredible wonders and mysteries hidden throughout our planet’s vast and vibrant waters. From lakes to oceans, young explorers will embark on a journey filled with pirates, sea creatures, hidden treasures, and fascinating wildlife from every water corner of the world. The Summer Reading Club is FREE and open to any children going into Kindergarten through Grade 6 in the fall. Kids come once a week from July to August for two hours.

Weekly Themes

July:

Week 1 (July 7-9) Tidal Treasures

Week 2 (July 14-16) Polar Plunge

Week 3 (July 21-23) Mythical Sea Creatures

Week 4 (July 28-30) Shipwreck Adventure

August:

Week 5 (August 4-6) Lake Campout

Week 6 (August 11-13) Deep Sea Divers

Week 7 (August 18-20) Kings of the Sea

Week 8 (August 25-27) Surf’s Up

How it works

Your child will come to one scheduled time a week for two hours. We do different crafts, games and activities each week that correspond to that week’s theme.

We have four times available:

Tuesday 2-4 PM

Wednesday 10-12 PM or 2-4 PM

Thursday 2-4 PM

We get all participants to take part in a reading challenge that helps promote their reading during the summer. We will be sending home a reading tracker booklet with each child for the summer.

Teen SRC

Have you or your child aged out of the Summer Reading Club but still want to participate in all the fun? This year we are introducing a new session of SRC just for TEENS!

Teen Summer Reading Club will run every Monday in July and August from 3-5pm and is FREE to join.

The teen SRC will be run by Sarah and will include games, 3D printing, fun activities and time spent at the park. Teens will still be able to track their reading to win prizes.

Win Prizes!

Win Prizes!

Track your reading over the summer by colouring in a bubble for every ten minutes you read. Depending on how many bubbles coloured in per week, participants can earn prizes. Kids can choose to spend their bubbles or save them to be able to pick from a higher level prize bin.

We also have a competition between the reading groups, so whichever group reads the most wins a freezie party!

Meet the team!
